Events in Ogden Valley
The Ogden Valley Business Association and The Snowbasin Adaptive Sports Education Foundation are hosting the Annual Snowdance and Auction on Saturday, January 11, 2014. This event, in its twelfth year, is a fundraising dinner, dance and auction held in Earl’s Lodge at Snowbasin Ski Resort. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. This year guests will have a choice of two delicious dinner entrees prepared by Snowbasin chefs, Salmon Fillet with Orange-Lime Beurre Glaze or Hazelnut Crusted Pork Loin. Dance to sounds of Shades of Grey, a local’s favorite!
The guest speaker will be the Honorable Deedee Corradini, former Mayor of Salt Lake City, serving from 1992 to 2000. As Mayor she was instrumental in Utah’s successful bid for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. After learning that US ski jumper Lindsey Van, daughter of Ogden Valley residents Barry Van and Nancy Seraphin, was banned from competing in the Olympics, she became President of Women’s Ski Jumping USA. She advocated for and worked with elite women ski jumpers from 18 countries around the world to push for women’s inclusion in the Olympic Winter Games. While ski jumping has been an Olympic event since 1924, it was the only event in the Olympic Games that did not allow women to compete. After a hard-fought, seven-year campaign, the International Olympic Committee agreed to allow women ski jumpers to compete in 2014. The XXII Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, will include women’s ski-jumping for the first time in history. Please join in the fun and spirit to wish all our athletes a safe and rewarding trip… To Russia with Love!
Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance the programs of The Snowbasin Adaptive Sports Education Foundation and to further the goals of The Ogden Valley Business Association.

The OVBA, in partnership with AdamBarkerPhotography is pleased to announce the 2013 OGDEN VALLEY FALL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP, September 27th to 29th. This intensive weekend of outdoor and indoor sessions will help attendees to create those 5-star images of this gorgeous season. Utah’s own Adam Barker will conduct this workshop, for the second year in the beautiful Ogden Valley. Here is what people are saying about his workshops:
“Adam was great! His enthusiasm and can do attitude was infectious and made it fun.” Keith
“Having participated in workshops with different professional photographers over the years, I continue to believe that Adam’s approach to teaching is truly unique. During my personal workshop, he revealed a unique ability to teach me a new way of looking at this beautiful three dimensional world and how best to capture that in a two dimensional medium. Photographic concepts and techniques I had been reading about for years in books finally came to light for me. As a bonus, his fun positive attitude and passion for photography is infectious!” Steve
“I attended Adam’s fall color workshop in Utah’s Wasatch mountains. Although I have lived here for 30 years Adam showed me places I have never seen before and taught me new techniques for capturing images of the of the place I love. Great informative weekend.” Kit
